Have you ever taken into account your ‘WHY’s for participating in the sport that you do? Are you doing it because you genuinely enjoy it? Or do you just do it for the sake of doing it?

Athletics or playing a sport requires a significant amount of time and energy. Sports, without a doubt, can help you achieve your fitness goals and maintain a healthy weight. They do, even so, promote healthy lifestyle choices such as not smoking or drinking. Some may believe that this would divert student-athletes attention away from their studies but it is the opposite.  Sports necessarily imply memorization, repetition, and learning — all of which are directly applicable to classwork.

Is it better to play a sport that you're good at just for the sake of playing, or a sport that you enjoy?

You as an athlete may differ in other’s own objectives on why you are playing a sport. This will be determined by your definition of "better” and “sport”.

Why are you playing? What is the ultimate goal? What do you value most about playing sports?

If you want a professional career or a college scholarship, and you have a particularly good skill in a sport but don't enjoy it, playing it could be your voucher for that scholarship or pro career. If you play sports because you enjoy competition especially the winning part or a sport that you are innately more inclined towards may also be a better choice.

Some may believe that most athletes nowadays are in it not just for the money but also for their own fame and celebrity. They may enjoy the competition and be fully skilled, but they are not content or enjoy simply playing a good game.

If you participate in sports for the social aspect, as a hobby, an exercise, and/or pure enjoyment, choose the sports that you really enjoy. You'll be happier, as a result, besides, if you enjoy a sport and put in the effort, you might eventually become quite good at it.

Knowing why you do what you do serves two fundamental purposes: it encourages you and it aligns you.
